Please note that Little Fishes is not running for the current academic year. We aim to start up again in September 2022.
The lower hall at the back of the Church
Fridays from 9.30am to 11.15am (term time only)
Little Fishes is our baby and toddler group for all children aged 0-3 and their parents/carers. There is a charge of £2.00 for each session (plus 50p for additional siblings over 9 months) which covers the cost of running the group including refreshments.
The group is run by volunteers from the church and has a Christian ethos. All our volunteers undergo a DBS check and the church has a child protection policy which is available from the church office on request.
To provide a safe and stimulating environment for young children to play and learn.
To support parents and carers and provide an opportunity to relax and make friends.
To introduce adults and children to our Christian community at East Finchley Baptist Church.
We have a wide range of toys and activities available including:
Physical play (ride-ons, slide, soft play)
Role play (shop, dressing up, kitchen/home corner, tools)
Small world (trains, cars, dolls house)
Baby area & Book corner
And much much more (bricks, duplo, puzzles…)
There is a fenced off outside play area which we use in warm weather with a sand pit and water play.
There's plenty of space to park buggies on arrival so the hall is free and safe for play. There are steps down from the foyer to the hall, but there is disabled access at the back of the church - please contact us
for more details. We have the usual toilets as well as child steps, potties and baby change facilities. There is no car park, but parking is available on Creighton Avenue.
9.30am - Adult café (real coffee & biscuits!) & free play for the children
10.20am - Children's snacks and drinks (typically rice cakes, bread sticks & fruit)
10.40am - Craft & activities on the day's theme
11.00am - Singing and Bible story with the story bag
11.15am - Hometime
Waiting List Policy
When we started little fishes we decided to operate using a waiting list rather than on a 'first come first served' basis each week. For space and safety reasons there has to be a limit on the numbers that we can admit. If we operated on a 'first come first served' basis we would have to turn people away who perhaps arrived just a few minutes after someone else and had hoped to spend the morning at a toddler group. We also wanted there to be a group of mums/dads/carers who could get to know each other as the weeks went by and as helpers we could get to know them too. As a result, we do have a waiting list and at times this can be quite long. If you would like to come to Little Fishes then please do email the church office
with your contact details and the name and age of your child(ren). We will then get back to you and add you to the waiting list.
